2,988 affectees received plots possession letters by Chairman NAB

Historic Breakthrough Under Chairman NAB’s Leadership: Merger Facilitated by NAB Lahore Paves Way for Delivery of Developed Plots to State Life Housing Affectees

Lahore – In a landmark achievement reflecting the NAB’s commitment to safeguard public interests and provide tangible relief to victims of housing fraud, Chairman NAB Lieutenant General (R) Nazir Ahmed Butt presided over a grand ceremony for affectees of the State Life Cooperative Housing Society at Lake City Meadows Lahore, where possession letters to 2,988 members were given by Chairman NAB. The initiative is the result of sustained efforts undertaken under the supervision of the Chairman NAB and the dedicated facilitation of NAB Lahore to resolve a matter that had remained pending for over two decades.

Chairman NAB, during his address, termed the event a historic example of institutional cooperation and citizen-centric accountability. He stated that NAB’s foremost priority is the protection of public interests and the restoration of the rights of affectees. He emphasized that accountability is not merely about prosecution but also about ensuring practical and lawful solutions for citizens who have suffered financial losses.

The Chairman appreciated the efforts of NAB Lahore, provincial departments and all stakeholders whose collective contributions transformed a long-standing dispute into a success story benefiting thousands of families.

Director General NAB Lahore, Mr. Mirza Faran Baig, briefed participants on NAB Lahore’s extensive role in facilitating the resolution of the case. He noted that the Bureau actively coordinated with multiple government departments and regulatory authorities, including SMBR, LDA, Irrigation Department, WASA, ADCR and other relevant institutions to secure necessary approvals and remove legal and administrative bottlenecks. He stated that NAB Lahore remained fully engaged throughout the process to ensure the timely implementation of the project and protection of members interests.

Director General Operations NAB, Mr. Amjad Majeed Aulakh, provided overview of the initiation of the case. He informed the audience that following numerous complaints regarding non-provision of plots and lack of development, NAB initiated proceedings and pursued various avenues for relief. He explained that NAB’s interventions and a comprehensive solution was devised.

Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab, Mr. Nabeel Javed, highlighted the importance of inter-departmental coordination and transparent governance in resolving large-scale public issues. Chairman Ejaz Group and owner of Lake City, Mr. Gohar Ejaz, lauded the efforts of Chairman NAB, NAB Lahore and other members of Lake City Meadows Consortium in facilitating a practical solution to a complex issue. He reaffirmed Lake City’s commitment to complete the remaining development work in accordance with the approved framework.

Among others, Inspector General Punjab Police, Inspector General Prisons Punjab, Director General LDA, Registrar Cooperatives Punjab, senior officers of NAB, representatives of government departments and a large number of affectees attended the ceremony. A plaque unveiling ceremony was also held to commemorate the occasion, followed by the formal distribution of possession letters among beneficiaries. The event represents a significant milestone in NAB’s ongoing efforts and deliver meaningful relief to thousands of affectees who had been awaiting possession of their plots for decades.
