Renowned actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is set to star in an upcoming film called “Haddi,” which aims to portray transgender individuals accurately on screen. The producers of the film, Raadhika Nanda and Sanjay Saha, shared that the process of finding and working with transgender talent was both adventurous and challenging.

During the research phase of the film, the production team received valuable assistance from Renuka, a transgender woman. Renuka played a crucial role in providing insights into the culture, upbringing, and daily challenges faced by the transgender community. She introduced the filmmakers to various transgender individuals, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of their lives. Renuka also facilitated interactions between Siddiqui and transgender individuals to help him immerse himself in their experiences and portray his character authentically.

Saha expressed his gratitude for Renuka’s help in understanding the transgender community and their challenges, including medical processes and post-operation experiences. The writers of the film also spent time with transgender individuals to gain a fair understanding of their living situations, treatment options, daily lives, and lifestyles. This research and immersion in the transgender community contributed to making “Haddi” a truthful portrayal of their lives.

Saha praised Siddiqui’s dedication to the role, noting that he had spent considerable time with transgender individuals to deeply understand their struggles. Siddiqui himself mentioned in an interview that the experience of playing a transgender character had transformed his perspective, teaching him patience and a deep respect for performers. The film’s poster, featuring Siddiqui in a feminine appearance, has already generated attention online.

“Haddi” is expected to be released in the near future. Beyond entertainment, the film aims to shed light on the experiences and challenges faced by transgender individuals. The inclusion of 300 real transgender people in the cast adds authenticity and underscores the filmmakers’ commitment to providing an accurate representation of this marginalized community.
