4 suspects remanded in custody in foreign women abduction, alleged rape case

A judicial magistrate on Friday granted a five-day physical remand of four suspects arrested in connection with a case involving the alleged abduction and rape of foreign women.

The accused — Raza Dar, Hassan Raza, Sajid Ali and Sikandar Khan — were produced before Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mehmood at the Lahore Cantonment Courts amid stringent security arrangements.

At the commencement of the proceedings, the court recorded the attendance of all four suspects. The magistrate also directed the accused to remove their face masks while appearing before the court.

Seeking the custody of the suspects, the prosecution requested a 14-day physical remand, arguing that further investigation was required. The prosecutor informed the court that the complainants were foreign nationals and submitted that Ali Dar had also been nominated in the first information report (FIR) registered by Defence-C Police Station.

The prosecution contended that the physical custody of the accused was essential to complete the investigation, collect evidence and carry out other investigative procedures connected with the case.

After hearing the prosecution’s submissions, the court initially reserved its order on the remand request. Subsequently, the magistrate allowed the police’s application in part and granted a five-day physical remand of all four suspects instead of the 14 days sought by the investigating officer.

Following the court’s order, the police took the accused back into custody for further investigation.

The case relates to the alleged abduction and rape of foreign women and is being investigated by Defence-C Police Station. No further details of the investigation were disclosed during the hearing.
