Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Parvez Elahi has been has been arrested again by the Anti-Corruption Gujranwala.
DG Anti-Corruption Sohail Zafar Chattha has said that they will go into court to challenge the release of Parvez Elahi. He said that the decision was against merit, and PTI President will soon be shifted in Gujranwala.
Earlier, the court had cleared of all charges in a corruption case by a district court in Lahore a day after being detained outside his home by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).
The Anti-Corruption Establishment had requested that PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi be physically detained for 14 days as part of a corruption prosecution.
A Lahore district court has issued its decision on this request.
Government attorney Ghulam Salahuddin claimed that a remand was necessary because more investigation needed to be done from Elahi at the hearing, which was presided over by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza.
Elahi’s legal representative, Advocate Rana Intizar, countered that none of the “fake and bogus documents” his client is said to have created were submitted to the court.
PTI President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi repeated that he is a member of the party and will be a member of it while speaking casually to the media outside a Lahore district court.
He announced, “I won’t hold any conferences. Mohsin Naqvi is the cause of all of this commotion. I didn’t make any political arguments in opposition to anyone. Mohsin Naqvi is the one who is subjecting me to this cruelty.”
“I’m in the PTI and will stay there, God willing. The government is doing evil and will experience the same consequences,” he continued.
