Act passed to broadcast TV programs, bulletins with sign language

President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved the Deaf Persons Access to Media Act 2022 after which news bulletins and TV programs will be broadcasted with sign language.

After the approval of the President, the Act will be implemented immediately in the whole of Pakistan and after six months news bulletins will not be allowed on any public and private electronic media, private TV channel, cable TV or any other media without a Pakistan Sign Language spokesperson.

Under the Act after one year no program, entertainment, advertisement, talk show, drama, film or any kind of photo program could be broadcasted on any public and private electronic media, private TV channel, cable TV or any other media without a sign language spokesperson.

After the approval of the President, public and private media houses will have to appoint sign language spokespersons for the implementation of the Act within six months of the implementation of the Act.
