The acting President and Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has signed the Finance Bill and approved it, according to sources.
It may be recalled that the National Assembly had approved the Finance Bill yesterday, after which it was sent to the President.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani will serve as the acting president as President Arif Alvi has gone to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj. Sadiq Sanjrani has taken over as acting president.
The National Assembly passed the budget 2023-24 with a majority vote, including amendments to the Petroleum Development Levy Ordinance presented by the Finance Minister.
After amending the Petroleum Development Levy Ordinance, the federation will have the power to impose a levy of up to Rs60 per liter.
A total of nine amendments were introduced in the Finance Bill 2023 which were passed.
