Action on petrol hoarding leaves 7 pumps sealed, several fined

Minister of State for Petroleum Mosaddek Malik has said that 900 places in two districts of Punjab have been inspected where seven petrol pumps were sealed and a fine of Rs8 00,000 has been imposed for storing petrol.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Malik said petrol pumps were inspected in Sargodha and Faisalabad yesterday at 530 locations in one district and 437 inspections in the other district.

He said six pumps were sealed in one district with a fine of Rs250,000 and in another district a fine of Rs550,000 and a petrol was sealed along with 21 FIRs.

The Minister of State for Petroleum said that if petrol is found stored at any petrol pump, strict legal action will be taken against it.

Mosaddek Malik said that today he had a discussion with the head of the nationwide Petroleum Dealers Association over the situation.

It should be noted that for the last few days there has been a shortage of petrol in many cities of Punjab including Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad after which OGRA took notice and directed to take strict action against hoarders.
