Banned film ‘Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer’ wins two awards as Abu Aleeha bags best director award

Actor Yasir Hussain, who is playing the lead role in the film ‘Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer’, which was banned in Pakistan, has won the best actor award at the UK Asian Film Festival.

The director of the movie, Abu Aleeha, won an award in the best director category.

Before attending the festival in London, Yasir Hussain expressed his thanks as he publicized that that the film will be premiered at the UK Asian Film Festival.

Taking to Instagram, the actor shared the news as he expressed disappointment that the people of the country were unable to recognize the noteworthy local content.

He called on the public to go to the cinemas on Eid to watch the movies based on our culture. He thanked the director Abu Aleeha and producer Javed Ahmed Kakepoto for “making this different movie”.

‘Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of A Serial Killer’ stars Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Omar. The film is currently banned in Pakistan, and depicts the untold story of Lahore’s notorious serial killer of the same name as the film. He confessed to police and media that he had kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed over 100 boys in Lahore between 1998 and 1999.

He was arrested and was given the death sentence. After two years in prison, he committed suicide. The authorities assumed that his horrific crimes were part of a wider operation.
