Adnan Siddiqui’s edited photo facing Tom Cruise termed ‘childish’ by netizens

Adnan Siddiqui has landed himself in trouble after editing a photo of his in a manner that the ‘Dum Mastam’ producer faces Tom Cruise as if in a conversation with him, with the following made-up chat along as the caption: “Tom: No lessons learnt whatsoever from Dr. Strange, eh? Me: None whatsoever. Tom: So you gonna lock horns with MY movie as well? Me: As sure as death. Tom: And why would you do that? Me: Cuz we are ‘Dum Mastam’.”

Expecting to be hailed as a brave film producer not ready to surrender before foreign content making it to Pakistani cinemas, Adnan Siddiqui unfortunately got criticized for the entire post, including both the photo and the caption. Opposite to what was expected, netizens took to the comments section to term the entire act as ‘childish’, not finding the photo carrying Adnan Siddiqui and Tom Cruise face to face with each other attractive at all.

Siddiqui, who later on called it ‘just a joke’ was inclined to do this after his film ‘Dum Mastam’ along with four other Pakistani films faced discrimination at the hands of cinema managers when ‘Dr. Strange’ was given more screenings by them on Eid.

Now that Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is also set to release in a few days, Siddiqui thought it good to impart the message that as a Pakistani film producer, he won’t take another foreign film incorporating one of the biggest Hollywood stars as a setback, and will continue to promote his film ‘Dum Mastam’ as its competitor. Unfortunately, the humorous dig at Hollywood content backfired for Siddiqui, inviting comments calling him ‘immature’, ‘childish’ and not professional enough to focus more on quality content instead of lame social media posts.
