Affidavit looks like Calibri font or Qatari letter: Aitzaz Ahsan

PPP leader and senior lawyer says such documents hallmark of Nawaz Sharif

PPP leader and renowned legal expert Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the affidavit of former Gilgit-Baltistan chief justice Rana Shamim about former Supreme Court Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar apparently looked bogus.

“The affidavit is dubious in my view,”  said Aitzaz Ahsan, while talking to reporters at Lahore High Court Bar Association on Wednesday.

“No chief justice can give such directions that someone else was also hearing,”  he further said.

Aitzaz Ahsan said that Opposition Leader in Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani had raised this question as to why ‘such bogus affidavits’ were planned and made in London.

He said, “You know, London is the place of Nawaz Sharif.” Ahsan raised questions on the affidavit of former Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Justice Rana Shamim, saying that his brother died on November 6 and within the next two days, he was going to submit an affidavit before the oath commissioner in London.

“This affidavit is like the Calibri font or Qatari letter,”  Ahsan said, recalling the claims and the documents submitted by the PML-N leadership in the Panama case.

He said that such documents had now become the hallmark of Nawaz Sharif.

He suggested that if this affidavit was fake then action must be taken against the perpetrators including those who got it made.

“Action must be taken against all those who are involved in producing this fake affidavit,”  he added.
