Imran Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who is currently in the Attock Jail in relation to the Toshakhana case, has been allocated a separate section on the jail premises for security reasons, according to the Jails Department spokesperson.

In compliance with legal regulations, essential amenities have been provided to Imran Khan and these include an air cooler, cot (charpoy), and ceiling fan, stated the spokesperson.

Furthermore, the spokesperson outlined the comprehensive arrangements made for the PTI chairman’s comfort and convenience. He has been given bed mats, pillows, a table, and two chairs. Adequate measures for maintaining the cleanliness of the jail area and barracks have also been put in place.

The Jails Department representative said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s well-being is being attended to with necessary medical facilities. The provisions laid out in the prison manual are strictly followed. Additionally, his diet is being overseen by medical professionals.

In line with the jail manual, arrangements have been made for meetings with legal counsel and family members. This provision ensures that his rights are upheld during his detention.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court, while considering Imran Khan’s plea for a transfer from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail, ordered that the Chairman receive facilities per the jail manual. Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq, issued a written directive on this matter.

However, objections have been raised regarding the transfer request from Attock to Adiala Jail. The court has instructed that Imran Khan must receive the facilities specified in the prison manual, to which he is entitled to.

The court has set a deadline of August 11 for the federal and provincial governments to respond to the request for transferring Imran Khan to Adiala Jail from Attock.

The petitioner’s lawyer conveyed that the Sessions Court had recommended Imran Khan’s confinement at Adiala Jail.
