After Sindh, Punjab to also shut down markets at 9pm

The government of Punjab, under power saving plan, has decided to implement shut down of markets across the province at 9pm as the country is witnessing constant power outages.

The government has had held meetings and consultations with the chambers and trade associations of the province. The implementation on 9pm shut down plan is expected from the coming week that will help to save electricity and fuel.

Early closure of restaurants is also under consideration; however so far it has been decided that businesses linked with routine life such as medical stores, petrol pumps, bakeries, grocery stores and restaurants will be out of early closing list.

Media has reported quoting President Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) Nauman Kabir saying that the traders have been taken on0board regarding the decision of early shut-down of markets. However response from other sectors of business community has not yet surfaced.

Earlier the Sindh Government has already announced the closure of markets at 9pm as measures to save electricity. However the traders and business community in the province have rejected the notification issued by the provincial home department.
