The office of the attorney general of Pakistan has written a letter to the home secretary of Punjab regarding the repatriation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to a local news outlet.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo Nawaz Sharif went to London in November 2019 due to his illness. Prime Minister Imran Khan allowed Sharif to go abroad to get medical treatment.

According to the letter, American doctor, Fayaz Shawal, submitted fresh medical reports to the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Sharif’s health condition on January 28. It added that fresh reports must be provided to the medical board. The board will then be able to give its opinion on Sharif’s health, the letter added.

In line with the federal cabinet’s decision, the Punjab government created a medical board to investigate the former PM’s health reports, that were submitted to the Lahore High Court. The letter further said that the medical report had requested more updates in order to assess and submit a report on Sharif’s health.

The latest medical report was submitted to the LHC on Tuesday, after which the doctors told the PML-N supremo not to travel. The report advised Sharif to stay in London until his angiography is completed.
