Ahsan Iqbal requests ECP to hold premier accountable for ‘hiding money’

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader Ahsan Iqbal requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday to hold Prime Minister Imran Khan accountable.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the money reaped through overseas Pakistanis was used [by the government] for its own interests and the accounts that had this money were hidden from the ECP as well, which was a very serious violation of the constitution.

“Former prime minister was disqualified for not declaring the 10,000 dirhams that he was receiving from his son and here, millions of rupees were received by these people,” he said.

He further added that the scrutiny committee had presented the non-declaration of money that had been received through the signature of PM Khan.

Ahsan Iqbal accused Imran khan of having bank accounts that had been hidden from the ECP along with keeping money in the bank accounts of his office staff.

“Millions of rupees were kept in the bank accounts of peons, watchmen and even computer operators, and these people accuse others of hiding money that way,” he said.

He blamed PM Khan of bringing a terrible culture of name calling. He requested the election commission to hold PM Khan accountable for these accounts and called for his disqualification.

He also requested the judiciary to hold the premier accountable for the case of foreign gifts as they caused embarrassment for Pakistan.
