The Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir on Wednesday dismissed the appeal against the disqualification of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.

Former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’s legal team had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the disqualification decision of the Azad Kashmir High Court in the contempt of court case.

AJK Supreme Court Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram lashed out at the lawyers of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.

He said, “Why did you write the former Prime Minister as the current Prime Minister in this appeal?”

Advocate Sardar Tanvir Ilyas said that this word should be considered a former Prime Minister.

Chief Justice Raja Saeed said, “How can we read it before, you are a senior lawyer, this is the Supreme Court, there is no joke, unless there is an action from the Supreme Court, the decision of the High Court will remain, he will be considered a former Prime Minister, submit a new appeal again, we will see when to accept it.”

It may be recalled that Sardar Tanveer Ilyas was summoned by the Ajk Supreme Court and the High Court yesterday for adopting a threatening tone in his speeches.

The AJK High Court disqualified Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas in a contempt of court case. For the first time in the history of Azad Kashmir, a prime minister has been disqualified for contempt of court.

The Election Commission of Azad Kashmir also issued a notification to deseat Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.

On the other hand, the AJK Supreme Court gave two weeks to Tanveer Ilyas to give a written reply in the contempt of court case.
