Ali Zafar’s latest is a modern qawwali ‘Maula’

Singer, music producer and actor Ali Zafar has released his latest song under the banner of Khayaali Production. Titled as ‘Maula’, it is what sounds like a modern qawwali with a huge choir dressed up in Sufi attire and clapping its hands together to make it look exactly like one. The difference comes in the music which is modern in terms of the instruments used as well as its composition.

‘Maula’ is a tribute to Hazrat Ali (RA) on part of Ali Zafar, shot in what looks like a portion of the famous Lahore Fort, probably the Sheesh Mahal.

Ali Zafar took to Instagram to share a still from the music video and also announce that ‘Maula’ is a part of his upcoming album called ‘Husn’ which is going to be his fourth album as a singer. ‘Maula’, however, happens to be the only released song from the collection yet.

‘Maula’ has been appreciated by many, as it has been made keeping under consideration the recent trend of modern Sufi music which the likes of Hadiqa Kiani have also taken up lately, and has also been presented time and again through important music platforms such as Coke Studio.
