All about ‘Kiswah’ series of Amna Butt

Talking about some artists who made a great position with their exceptional work and aesthetics, Amna Butt is one of the well-known Pakistani visual artists. After receiving training from several renowned institutions and senior artists, she has become the CEO of her art gallery named; The Art Room.

One of her mesmerizing artworks is Kiswah which is inspired by Islamic traditions and architecture, her art is a unique blend of contemporary and traditional styles. The Kiswah series showcases the intricate designs of Islamic culture, beautifully combining the past and present.

In an exclusive conversation with Minute Mirror, she told that artists often possess a deep sensitivity to the world around them, which allows them to tap into their emotions and create works that are both powerful and moving. They are also often very persistent and dedicated to their craft, spending countless hours honing their skills and perfecting their art.

Talking about her art series Kiswah she told that it is named after the cloth which is used to cover the Holy Kaaba in Mecca during the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj. Kiswah, has the most elaborate Islamic calligraphy and designs. It is a representation of the holiness of the Kaaba, and its unique historic and cultural significance.

She further told that her art series Kiswah is an attempt to represent the beauty and cultural significance of the kiswah. Comprising her original paintings and digital art pieces, her series focuses on the intricate details of Islamic architecture and patterns.

Talking about the colors she opts for her work, she told that the color palette used in her paintings is a tribute to the vibrant colors of Islamic art, and her style is an attempt to capture the complexity and beauty of Islamic calligraphy.

When we asked about the piece very close to her heart, she told that one of the most notable pieces from the Kiswah series is “Desert Mirage,” a painting that portrays the miracles and history of Islamic culture through a contemporary lens. The painting consists of intricate designs that create a mesmerizing traditional pattern that blends in with modern art techniques.

She also told Minute Mirror about her other digital art pieces that she took inspiration from the history of Islamic calligraphy across different cultures represented by the golden era of Baghdad.
