All grid stations in country are now operational, claims energy ministry

The Ministry of Energy asserted on Tuesday, more than 24 hours after the nation was struck by the darkness, that all grid stations providing electricity have been “restored” after going offline owing to a “frequency mismatch” the day before and leaving tens of millions of people without power.

The ministry stated that “all 1,112 grid stations were restored within 24 hours countrywide,” along with a table displaying that the electricity was restored at 6:25 am.

Despite government assertions to the contrary, several parts of the nation remain without electricity. People in Karachi were grumbling that several districts were still without power and that the city’s supply had not yet been entirely restored.

On the other hand, a K-Electric representative claimed that as of right now “all grid stations in the city are working” and that the local restoration process is in motion.

The power provider stated that after the supply from the national grid was restored last night, the situation in the city further improved in its power report at 9:34 am.

Airports, hospitals, water pumping facilities, and other significant installations now have power.

Following the protracted national power outage, there were reports of mobile and internet services being disrupted in many cities.

The provision of services to customers was delayed as telecom providers ran out of fuel stored to temporarily power their towers and maintain a seamless flow of services.

The absence of power also resulted in numerous businesses closing their doors.

According to a spokesperson for the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), the breakdown has cost the textile industry a staggering $70 million to date.

The spokesperson insisted that the widespread power outage has hurt all sectors of the economy.
