Pakistan has effectively finished the evacuation of its citizens from the war-torn Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) tweeted its affirmation.
“By Allah’s grace and tireless efforts of our embassy in Khartoum, supported by China and Saudi Arabia and our teams in Jeddah and Islamabad, we have successfully and safely evacuated over 1000 Pakistanis out of Sudan,” the tweet stated. With this, our evacuation efforts from Sudan have come to a conclusion.
Five special planes operated by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on their way to Jeddah have taken 636 citizens back to their home countries and have so far landed at Karachi International Airport.
The number of Pakistanis who have been returned now stands at 729 thanks to another Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft that brought 93 more citizens to Islamabad.
In contrast to other nations, the government developed the evacuation strategy to repatriate regular citizens before diplomats.
