Almost 99% of extortion calls in KP come from Afghanistan, says AIG

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional IG Ali baba Khel while talking to Urdu News stated that 99% of extortion calls in KP come from Afghanistan.

He also stated that security concerns have increased due to the situation in the neighbouring state.

He further said, “We are next-door neighbours and obviously due to the attached border our province is directly affected by it.”

Additional IG said that 99% of extortion calls come from Afghanistan that’s why we are facing a failure to trace them.

He also claimed that despite the hurdles KP police have successfully tackled many cases.

According to him, steps are being taken over time to enhance the capabilities of the Counter Terrorism Department.

“In the past, there was our force for the tribal areas, but after the merger with the province we had to bear the burden of the police of these districts.”

He also stated that while 1200 tribal district personnel are still being trained, 24,000 tribal police personnel are ready to fight.

In response to a question about whether there was a scarcity of police in the province, the Additional IG stated that there was no lack of police in the province, but the focus is on increasing police capacity.

According to the CTD, 768 terrorists were apprehended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year with 90 of them having a fixed head price.
