Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated that the death of a young lady in detention has saddened everyone in the Islamic Republic but chaos would not be tolerated in the face of escalating violent protests.

Since Amini’s passing two weeks ago, there have been anti-government demonstrations all around Iran. Protesters frequently demand an end to the more than 40 years of Islamic clerical rule.

Raisi remarked in an interview with state television that we are all pained by this tragic event but Chaos is unacceptable on Wednesday.

Social media footage showed Iranians continuing with rallies and screaming “Death to the dictator” despite an increasing death toll and a harsh crackdown by security officers using tear gas, clubs, and occasionally live bullets.

Since the murder of Amini on September 13 as a result of her detention for “unsuitable attire” by the morality police, who uphold the Islamic Republic’s stringent dress code, protests have spread to more than 80 locations across the country.

Amini, a native of the Kurdish city of Saqez in northwest Iran, passed away in a hospital after slipping into a coma, setting off the first significant display of discontent on Iranian streets since authorities put down demonstrations against an increase in fuel prices in 2019.

Raisi, who had commissioned an inquiry into Amini’s passing, stated that “forensics would provide a report on her death within the next few days.”
