An interim government?

A long-wearing bitter and harsh hatred-creating blame game between PTI and coalition parties seems to come to an end, and with some formula and an interim government, people will be busy bringing their recommendations and reaching decisions for fair and transparent elections. We are perhaps the toughest nation on earth that can play the dirtiest political game including brutal murders and shameful tortures of opponents during the worst economic conditions, devastating floods, and the enemy’s deep conspiracies against the nation’s integrity and solidarity. After losing so much, long waiting, bringing the nation to the red line, and comprehensive exhaustive and strong interference of respectable institutions, after all, we are having some hope for some good. But overambitious and greedy plunderers will still remain part of the game. They are world champions of lying, cheating, and non-stop abusive language. They want to lead the nation but with their tested vulgar tactics. This phase will show its shadows on the general elections campaign. There will be a neutral interim government of the technocrats and political activities and statements could be banned, at least for one month to cool down the fire in both ranks.

Let’s see at a glance our present political scenario. There are two main political forces PTI headed by Imran Khan and Coalition Federal Government headed by Shehbaz Sharif and the establishment from whom the nation always expect to play its imperative role when the political chaos reaches its peak. Before the no-confidence resolution about eight months ago there was Imran Khan’s government. At that time present Coalition parties were not accepting his government and had labelled his government as the selected (by establishment) government. During the Corona period PTI government did very well in bringing down the rising prices, running the exporting industry fast, and giving subsidies to the farmers and industrialists which resulted in more jobs and a significant increase in exports. Health cards were provided for effective health coverage for the whole nation. With this facility, even very poor families were in a position to avail the of quality treatments and surgeries free of cast. All economic indicators endorsed by the international economic agencies were showing fast improvement in our national economy. But Imran Khan’s government was toppled with the help of some purchased votes of the parliamentarians. Imran Khan named it a conspiracy of regime change and the new government was labelled by him as an imported government. In support of his demand for early general elections in the country, Imran Khan has started a long march toward Islamabad. During this march, there was an assassination assault on his life in Wazirabad which made the political activities very dangerous and intolerance overwhelmed our politics. Besides this attack, there were other terrible stories of prominent journalist Arshad Sharif’s torcher and assassination abroad. The worst type of torcher of Senator Azam Swati and Imran Khan’s close friend and PTI’ leader Shebaz Gil and similarly torcher of Journalist Imran Riaz Khan worsened the country’s political environment. Imran Khan in his FIR regarding the assassination attack on his life named three persons as the main accused. These names were not included in the FIR. The Supreme Court of Pakistan stressed the Police to register the FIR according to the rules including the accused names. But it was not done. It flared up the matter. Many people opined it was a political game by Imran Khan. Including him, no one knows who is the rascal behind it, but blatant is the fact that there was a planned attempt to murder him The worst thing after this event was the abusive language used by his political opponents against him. They try to paint it as a mere drama and political trick. It looked as if all of his opponents were mourning why this attempt on his life failed. This is one thing very dangerous. There are millions of people who are extremely emotional about their leader Imran Khan. Now Imran Khan has two demands to register an FIR with the three names he has given and an immediate announcement of the dates for the next general elections. The second demand has made things very complicated. Nevertheless, there is no dearth of wisdom to solve such problems provided higher-ups have sincerity and will to do the right for the country.

Announcement of the election dates is not a problem anyway, it is only the greed of the Coalition to rule more that hinders the way. After the political activities are started, the risk of making the election process difficult and attacks on the lives of politicians will remain alive. We have major concerns about that and there must be a will in the ranks of institutions to do it all fairly and justifiably so that nation must go ahead on a strong footing toward a destination of a bright future.
