ANP warns to take PM Khan to court over election code violation

Aimal Ali Khan says party will raise voice against misappropriation of official resources

The Awami National Party has accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of misusing official government resources to run a campaign for his party’s candidates in the forthcoming local government polls, warning him of taking him to the court.

In a statement, ANP Provincial President Aimal Wali Khan on Sunday said that the prime minister and his ministers were addressing public meetings and rallies and running campaigns for candidates in the second phase of the local government elections.

He said the premier and his ministers had received multiple notices regarding the issue from the Election Commission of Pakistan.

He said ANP would raise its voice against the misappropriation of official resources adding that spending the nation’s wealth on election campaigns was illegal. Khan said his party would also take the matter to a court of law and take action against the government.

Aimal Wali said that the premier no longer held the majority in the National Assembly and added that he was legally required to step down barring any postponement.

He said that the opposition parties had united and took a stand to oust the ‘selected’ government as soon as possible.
