Appointment of army chief will be made as per constitution: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the appointment of the army chief will be made as per the constitution.

The top brass of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has met fourth time in two days’ time. It has also been reported that PM Shehbaz is now on his way back to Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz is in London for consultation over important matters including the appointment of a new army chief, the political situation of Pakistan and the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Talking to the media after the fourth round of consultation with elder Sharif PM Shehbaz said that the appointment of the army chief was a constitutional matter. He further said that the decision on the matter will be taken according to the constitution.

PM Shehbaz arrived in London two days ago after completing his official visit to Egypt. He had participated in the COP27 conference.

According to reports the premier also held an important meeting with PML-N vice president Mariam Nawaz for around two hours. Important decisions were taken in the meetings.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and PML-N leader Malik Muhammad Khan were also present at two meetings with PML-N Supremo. It has been decided that the senior leadership of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will also be taken into confidence over the important decisions taken in London meetings.
