Army has not sent names for new chief appointment yet, Defence Minister

Legal action should be taken on Imran’s statements for playing with country’s dignity, Asif

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the army has not yet sent names for the appointment of a new army chief.

Asif was talking to the media in the parliament house. A journalist asked Defense Minister Khawaja Asif whether there was a deadlock between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari in the name of the Army Chief.

On this, Khawaja Asif said that there was no consultation on the name of the Army Chief yet and therefore how will there be a deadlock. He further said that consultations on the appointment of the army chief will be held only after November 18 or 19.

Defence Minister also said that there was no favourite name of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) for the appointment of the Army Chief.

Regarding Imran Khan, he said that legal action should be taken on his recent statements. He further said that he was playing with national interest for personal gain. He also said that Imran has been spoiling our international relations by making allegations.

He said that it was a crime of Imran Khan to play with the integrity and dignity of the country for personal benefit.
