PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has advised Punjab Governor Baleegh-ur-Rehman to refrain from any escapades, asserting that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi will not be taking the vote of confidence from the provincial parliament today.

Fawad’s remark was made before the provincial assembly’s deadline of today at 4 pm, which was set by Punjab Governor Baleegh-ur-Rehman, for the Chief Minister to win a vote of confidence.

Fawad Chaudhry while speaking to the media in Islamabad stated that the vote of confidence will not take place today. He claimed that the speaker had also made a decision to this effect.

On the other hand Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that PTI could not resist the constitution.

He said in a tweet that according to the regulations, the chief minister would lose his position if he failed to take the vote of confidence from the provincial assembly. He said that the Governor will determine when to direct the chief minister to request a vote of confidence.

“We are aware that they lack the necessary numbers. Go for the vote of confidence if they do [have the required number of votes], the interior minister said.

In the Punjab Assembly, the PTI has 177 members while the PML-Q has 10. The opposition on the other side has a total of 176 members from the Rah-i-Haq, PPP and PML-N parties.
