Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat against Nepal in the opening game of the 2023 Asia Cup.
Pakistan is hosting the Asia Cup after 15 years, which gets underway at Multan Cricket Stadium.
Both Nepal’s team and Multan’s venue will be making their Asia Cup debuts. The first game between the two teams is taking place at such a high level.
Pakistan, meanwhile, enters the Asia Cup on a high note as they now hold the top spot in the ICC rankings for ODI teams following a 3-0 victory over Afghanistan in Sri Lanka on Saturday. Since April, the Pakistani team has finished first twice.
The pitch seems really dry and shining, so we’ll bat first. There was no need to announce the starting XI earlier because we wanted our guys to feel confident. We’ll try to enjoy it and give it our best effort, the Pakistan captain Babar Azam said before the toss.
“To be honest, being the top-ranked team brings a good kind of pressure,” he remarked.
