At least 13 dead in Russian school shooting

At least 13 people, including seven children, reportedly died after a shooter opened fire in a school in Izhevsk – a city in central Russia – before committing suicide.

As per an i24 news report, Russia’s Investigative Committee said in a statement on Telegram, “Death toll in Izhevsk school shooting rises to 13, including seven children.”

The spokesperson for the investigative committee confirmed that nine people were killed because of this crime, including two security guards of the educational institution and two teachers, as well as seven minors.

He also added that the attacker “committed suicide”.

Investigators further stated that the attacker was wearing a black top with Nazi symbols and a balaclava, and did not have any identification.

According to Russia’s Interior Ministry, approximately 20 people got injured in the attack.

The region’s governor, Alexander Brechalov, confirmed in a video statement that there are “casualties and wounded among children”.
