Attack on Chinese hotel in Kabul, details awaited

A hotel popular with Chinese nationals in Shahr e Naw in Kabul is under attack.

According to the local press explosions and heavy firing are still happening. The official spokesperson of the police Khalid Zadran said on Twitter that at around 2:30 this afternoon, a hotel building where civilians were staying came under attack by evil elements.

“Security forces have reached the area and the raiders are currently being cleared. Details will be shared later,” said the tweet.

As per Khame press, the victims are heard saying “don’t approach the windows” in an audio tape.

The attack is going on close to the Chinese office and according to the source; this area is frequently visited by Chinese officials and civilians.

In videotapes, a part of a high-rise building can be seen on fire.

As per Aamaj news, only a day after Chinese ambassador Wang Yu raised concerns regarding the security of the Chinese embassy, a group of armed attackers attacked Kabul Hotel.

Chinese Ambassador met with Taliban Deputy FM Stanikzai and asked the caretaker government to pay attention to security.
