Authorities have stopped PTI from holding a rally at CTI ground

PTI refuses to hold rally at an alternate venue

Deputy Commissioner Sialkot has stopped Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold its jalsa at CTI ground Sialkot which is a private property of a church.

In the earlier hours of Saturday, clashes erupted between police and PTI party workers when they tried to install the stage and chairs for the public rally.

On Friday, the district administration rejected PTI’s request for holding their rally at CTI ground as the Christian community recorded their protest while writing an official letter to the administration.

Despite the rejection of the request and offer of an alternate to hold the rally, PTI leader Usman Dar along with PTI workers started to prepare for the gathering after which police arrested them all.

Deputy Commissioner Imran Qureshi while speaking to the media said that we have stopped PTI leadership from holding the rally at the request of the Christian community.

Later on, speaking to reporters Minister Information Maryam Aurangzeb said that if people do not want to give their private property, then we cannot do anything.

“We cannot ignore the sentiments of our Christian brothers,” she added.

The District Police Officer of Sialkot has already said that they have asked the PTI leadership to hold the rally in another place as the Christian community uses this ground for their prayers.

Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz also said while speaking to the media that alternate place is available for the public gathering of PTI but we all should respect our minorities.
