MITHI: The chief of Quami Awami Tehreek, Ayaz Latif Palijo has said that any move to damage the historical and heritage sites including Karoonjhar hills would be resisted by the people of Sindh, Ayaz Latif Palijo addressing the “Save Karoonjhar Conference” organized by his party in here on Thursday alleged that the PPP leaders always sold out the natural resources and other assets of Sindh whenever they had come into power adding he warned them to mend their ways and stop daydreaming auction off the precious granite of Karoonjhar hills.
Ayaz Latif announced to launch Save Karoonjhar drive vigorously on Friday and party workers would take out rallies in all big and small towns of the province.
The PPP ministers and lawmakers have always caused irreparable losses to the historical and heritage sites and they are only interested in making money by hook or by crook” he alleged and held them responsible for creating uncertainty among the minds of the people regarding the future of the beautiful sites like Karoonjhar. He deplored the fact that local influential as well as the contractors of the small dam project were still extracting the granite and granite from various points of the Parkar region despite another stay order issued by the double bench of Sindh High Court on the petition of Advocate Shankar Meghwar.
“All types of extraction of both granite and gravel from all 108 points of the hills be stopped forthwith and those involved in such illegal activities be put behind bars ” he demanded. The chief of Qaumi Awami Tehreek expressed his deep concern over the increasing incidents of suicides in the desert district and claimed that the abject poverty, sexual harassment, and domestic violence on Thari women by their in-laws the incompetence of the police were among the prime factors, which were forcing Tharis to commit suicide. Mr. Palijo also lashed out at the executives of the coal mining companies engaged in Tharparkar for the coal extraction and the power generation, for their alleged callous and indifferent attitude towards the unending miseries of the people of Tharparkar. He held corrupt high-ups of the Sindh government responsible for making money by showing the abject poverty and subhuman conditions of Tharis and alleged that the rulers had embezzled billions of rupees which were released for the provision of safe drinking water through Reverse Osmosis Plants. He pointed out that all costly RO plants in the whole desert region had been lying faulty for the past many years and people across the district were forced to drink the highly contaminated and poisonous water from wells.
Ayaz Latif Palijo said that PPP rulers in Sindh had done nothing for the people of Sindh during their rule of 15 years; instead, the entire Sindh had been turned into ruins due to massive corrupt practices committed by PPP leaders. He alleged that corrupt and greedy rulers had been busy in looting the resources of Sindh and leasing out its lands to builders without any let or check adding he questioned why such rulers were given the relief and impunity in the corruption cases by the federal institutions like NAB. ” The cases of mega scams framed against the rulers and PPP leaders in Sindh have almost been quashed and those involved walked out freely without being punished for their misdeeds and corrupt practices.
“The PPP rulers have created new records of the corrupt practices and people are groaning under the worst poverty owing to the worst rule of PPP for the past 15 years” he added and hoped that the people of Sindh would reject the corrupt elements in the upcoming general elections. Palijo deplored that on the one hand there were medium floods in the Indus River while on the other hand, the tail-end areas of many districts had been without water for the cultivation of rice and other crops.
“The corrupt and incompetent people have been elevated to key posts who are more interested in making money and keeping their bosses happy by sharing them with the looted money” he added and went on to accuse rulers of doing nothing for millions of the people, who were displaced by devastating floods last year. ” The millions of people who lost their houses, crops, and livestock during the floods in 2022 are yet to be given compensation for their rehabilitation” Palijo pointed out.
The Chief of QAT also lashed out at the abduction and alleged forced conversion of Hindu girls adding he claimed nobody was feeling safe and secure in any part of the province mainly because of the worst governance.
Ayaz Latif said that ill-conceived policies of the insane and incompetent rulers had already pushed the country towards chaotic conditions and people were finding it hard to feed their families due to inflation. He said that the rulers of the country had no agenda to provide any relief to the starving people of the country.
Advocate Shahnawz Higorjo, Anwar Nohani, Zahid Gul Otho, Subhan Bajeer, and other leaders of the party also spoke during the conference.
