Azhar Mashwani returns home after eight days disappearance

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media head and former focal person to CM Punjab Azhar Mashwani who was abducted from his house in Lahore finally returns home after eight days on Friday.

Azhar on his Twitter account said, “Alhamdulillah I have just returned home safe and sound. Your prayers, efforts, and support in these 8 days have indebted us forever, JazakAllah…”

PTI’s social media account also acknowledged this tweet by stating, “Alhamdulilah our brave Azhar Mashwani is finally back! However, we will continue to protest for other SMT members who were illegally abducted a few days ago.”

Azhar Mashwani’s family and close friends have also confirmed the return of him.

Earlier, many politicians, journalists, members of civil society, PTI supporters, Human rights organizations, and Amnesty International raised serious concerns over the disappearance of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member and focal person to former prime minister Imran Khan, Azhar Mashwani who was allegedly abducted last week from Lahore.

A non-governmental organization (NGO) posted on Twitter that it is “alarmed by reports of the forced disappearance of Azhar Mashwani, whose whereabouts remain unknown.”

Amnesty International further stated that “Enforced disappearances have stained Pakistan’s human rights record for decades and continue with impunity. We call on the government of Pakistan to immediately release all disappeared people or promptly bring them before a judge in a civilian court of law to rule on the awfulness of their arrest or detention and whether they should be released.”
