Babar Azam becomes youngest cricketer to receive Sitara-i-Imtiaz

Pakistani captain Babar Azam was awarded the 3rd-highest honor and civilian award ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’ on the 75th anniversary of the independence of Pakistan.

Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi on the occasion of the 75th Diamond Jubilee of Pakistan will be presenting Pakistan’s civil awards to the deserving people of various sections for their achievement and excellence in their respective fields.

Pakistan all-format captain and star batsman Babar Azam will be the youngest cricketer in Pakistan to be awarded the ‘Sitara-i-Imtiaz’ on the 75th anniversary of Pakistan.

Over the past few years, Babar Azam has consistently delivered outstanding performances. He is now among the top three batters in all three formats according to the ICC rankings.

President Alvi has in total conferred civil awards on 253 Pakistani citizens and foreign nationals. Citizens who showed courage and excellence in many disciplines have been honoured.

Earlier, Independence Day began with a 31-one gun salute in the federal capital Islamabad and a 21-one gun salute in the provincial headquarters.
