BHC closes all cases registered against Azam Swati in Balochistan

The Balochistan High Court has closed all cases registered against Azam Swati in Balochistan.

BHC asked police on Friday to cancel all five FIRs filed in the province against PTI Senator Azam Swati due to his disputed tweets against senior military figures and to release him if he had not been charged with any additional crimes.

Azam Swati son Osama Swati appealed to the court to close all cases against his father senator Azam Swati.

Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar criticized the police for filing numerous crimes against Swati as he continued hearing the petition today.

Justice Kakar stated that Swati’s remand should not be extended further. He then gave police the order to cancel all FIRs filed against the senator in the province.

Two days ago, the Balochistan High Court also ordered not to register any more cases against Azam Swati in the province.

Swati was detained by the Federal Investigation Agency in Islamabad on November 27 under Section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016 for the second time for posting harshly worded tweets targeting senior military officers.

Last Friday, after the judicial magistrate of Islamabad, turned over Swati to the Balochistan police, he was transferred to Quetta under heavy security.

Later on Sunday, the senator was placed under a five-day detention order by the police.
