BHC suspends Imran Khan’s warrants

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) has extended the suspension of the arrest warrant of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

Justice Rozi Khan Barich of the Balochistan High Court heard the petition filed by Iqbal Shah, organizer of PTI’s Insaf Lawyers Forum, seeking quashing of the FIR lodged against Imran Khan in Quetta.

The petitioner said that the case against Imran Khan was baseless as the incident did not take place in the province. He said that the legal requirements were not fulfilled in the registration of the FIR.

During the hearing, the court ordered that the record of all the cases registered under this crime should be presented. In addition, the court extended the suspension of Imran Khan’s arrest warrant till the next hearing and adjourned further hearing on the petition.

A case has been registered against former prime minister Imran Khan in the ‘Bijli Road’ police station for harassment against the state institutions.

In this case the court had issued warrants for Imran Khan for which Quetta police reached Lahore to comply but the Balochistan High Court suspended the warrant for two weeks and stopped Imran Khan’s arrest.
