US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and reiterated the fruitful Pak-US partnership.
He said the US will continue to engage with Pakistan through technical, development initiatives, trade and investment ties.
US Secretary of State also welcomed the approval of the International Monetary Fund’s support program for Pakistan.
“The United States supports a productive, democratic and prosperous partnership with Pakistan. Had a good phone conversation with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to discuss our support for Pakistan’s economic recovery and our common regional concerns, including Afghanistan,” Blinken stated.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that democratic principles and respect for the rule of law are central to the relationship between Pakistan and the United States, the Pakistani people have suffered tremendously from terrorist attacks and will continue to partner with Pakistan against terrorism.
The two leaders also discussed the destabilizing effects of the Ukraine-Russia war, as well as the shared interests of the United States and Pakistan in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
