US Congressman Brad Sherman has said that his letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken shouldn’t be seen as endorsing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

Imran Khan reportedly told Congressman Brad Sherman that he was not anti-American and that he believed in the rule of law during a phone discussion.

Sherman claimed that at the same time Imran Khan and he spoke, the Supreme Court of Pakistan made the decision to hold elections. He added that despite claims on social media to the contrary, his letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken should not be interpreted as endorsing Imran Khan.

Brad Sherman said that Imran Khan had claimed that the United States had overthrown his government. He said that he had criticized PTI Chairman’s position, but did not believe this to be the case because the former prime minister did not provide any supporting documentation for his claim.

The Congress did not donate any funds to overthrow the Imran Khan administration, he said.
