Former British MP Lord Nazir Ahmed convicted of sexual assault

Lawmaker had allegedly assaulted teen girl, boy younger than 11, in 1970s

A British court has sentenced former British parliamentarian of Pakistani origin, Lord Nazir Ahmed of sexual crimes against two children.

According to an international news outlet, the court found Lord Ahmed guilt of grave sexual assault against a young boy and the attempted sexual assault of a girl. According to the case, the recurring sexual abuse took place in the area of Rotherham, Yorkshire, when Lord Ahmed was in his teen years.

The MP had denied both charges.

The court will decide at a later date when to sentence Lord Ahmed in the case.

According to the case’s prosecutor, the MP had tried to rape the girl in the early years of the 1970s, when he was of the age 16 or 17, with the girl being significantly younger. The boy was assaulted during the same time period and was younger than 11 at the time.

The prosecutor said that Lord Ahmed had rejected the allegations as nothing more than “malicious fiction”. However, a recorded phone call which was made in 2016 of a conversation between the two victims proved that the case was legitimate and not “made-up”.

The male victim had reached out to the woman via e-mail claiming that he had evidence “against that paedophile”.
