An eighth-grade class in California was put under the charge of another teacher after a history teacher told her students that former US president Donald Trump still held the high political office.

According to CBS, the eighth-grade teacher launched a factually incorrect political speech in class, which was recorded by one of her students on October 18. In the recording that had many dubious claims, the teacher said that Trump was still president and that the current President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was allegedly involved in immoral practices such as having an illicit relationship with his niece. Hunter also spearheaded a child pornography ring, claimed the teacher.

Sarah Silikula, the mother of the student who recorded the teacher, said that there was no reason for the teacher to rant like that in front of students. She had told her son to record anything that made him uncomfortable, which is how she got the evidence of the speech. Silikula told CBS Los Angeles that the teacher told her son’s class that unvaccinated individuals had to give up their babies when they were born in the hospital.

The teacher’s words had a detrimental impact on her son, said Silikula, adding that her son refused to get vaccinated in the future. Silikula said that her son argued with his father and called him oblivious, but the teacher knew what she was talking about. The agitated mother said that the teacher had shaken the trust between her son and his parents.

Silikula also told CBS she was not satisfied with the school’s response, who placed the classroom under another teacher’s care. The mother said while she respected the teacher’s free choice to have her opinion, she did not want anyone dictating her child’s thoughts like that in the classroom.

The school district meanwhile told CBS that they did not support the teacher’s discussion and that a “progressive discipline policy” would be followed as per the teacher’s union. The teacher in question has not been removed or charged with a crime, reported CBS. She has, however, acceded to her faulty judgement in making the speech in class.
