Can talk with TTP, Baloch, and Sindhi separatists but not crooks, says Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan thanked the country on Wednesday for helping him defeat what he called an “international conspiracy” by supporting his candidate, Parvez Elahi, in the most recent election for Punjab chief minister, but ruled out the possibility of holding talks with the ruling coalition.

Former Prime Minister said, “I can communicate with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Baloch and Sindh separatists, but not with crooks.” In his speech on Wednesday night, which was being observed as a “Youm-e-Tashakur” on the call of his party, he said, “Will you speak to someone who robs your home?”

He further said that you can’t do it because if you talk to a bunch of robbers, then all those around you will start committing robberies as well. If you don’t bring robbers to justice, then the entire society will collapse.

Imran Khan was one of the first political leaders to take a position to engage with the TTP, and he has continued to propagate the idea that one shouldn’t use force to win wars, but rather negotiate peace. Additionally, he was the first to criticize the US war on terror.

After The Taliban marched through Afghanistan in August, capturing control of nearly all important towns and cities against the backdrop of the US forces’ May 1st withdrawal, there were numerous rounds of peace negotiations during the Imran Khan government.

On the other hand in a significant move, PTI has petitioned the Lahore High Court asking for the disqualification of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah. The petition was moved by PTI MPA Andleeb Abbas and Advocate Hassan Niazi.

The petition claims that the prime minister abused his authority and broke the constitution by permitting his son Suleman and nephew Hussain Nawaz — both of whom have been charged with crimes — to meet the Saudi crown prince while on an official tour.
