Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has instructed Caretaker Minister for Privatization Fawad Hasan Fawad to expedite the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and complete it swiftly.
During a meeting concerning PIA matters, the prime minister emphasized the need for urgent progress to enhance the airline’s reliability and bring it up to global standards.
He urged all relevant stakeholders to promptly address privatization-related issues. The prime minister received a briefing on the status of the PIA privatization process and welcomed the new caretaker minister for privatization, Fawad Hasan Fawad, to the team.
In a separate development, PIA has temporarily grounded some of its aircraft, as confirmed by the airline’s spokesperson. However, the spokesperson asserted that flights would resume once outstanding payments were settled. According to a Bloomberg report, the airline had to cancel several domestic and international flights due to the grounding of five Airbus A320 jets.
