Chaman border returns to normal after yesterday’s clash

Security officials have confirmed that the Chaman border is working normally after yesterday’s clash between Afghan and Pakistan forces.

According to security officials, despite the high-security alert, the Chaman border is completely functional.

According to Levies and hospital representatives, on Thursday, one person was murdered and 15 others were hurt when Afghan border guards fired indiscriminately into a Pakistani civilian area.

As per officials, Security forces appropriately retaliated after the initial firing from the Afghanistan side.

According to the local authority, the border region was evacuated following the fighting and an emergency was proclaimed in DHQ Chaman.

Officials from Levies claimed that the Afghan side of the border fired numerous artillery rounds at the civilian population along the Boghra Road and Custom House regions.

According to the authorities, the intervention of Afghan soldiers during the repair of the fence in the Sheikh Lal Muhammad section of the border had allegedly caused the conflicts.

During a previous attack earlier this week six people were martyred and 17 got injured as per Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Earlier on December 2, Pakistan’s head of mission to Kabul Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani escaped an assassination attempt.
