Beijing urged all parties to move toward de-escalation. It said talks should focus on a political settlement. It also called for discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme and other security concerns.

China highlighted the importance of keeping global shipping routes open. It specifically mentioned the Strait of Hormuz. It said maritime trade must remain stable to protect global supply chains.

During the summit, Donald Trump said Xi had shown willingness to help. He said the Chinese leader supported efforts to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. Trump also claimed Xi expressed interest in helping reduce tensions.

Trump said he discussed the situation with Xi during their meeting. He said China understands the importance of stability in the region. He added that cooperation on the issue would be in everyone’s interest.
