China hopes Pakistan’s political parties stay united

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday that the Chinese side hoped that all the political parties in Pakistan stay united and uphold the supreme interest of the country’s development and stability.

“China is committed to non-interference policy,” Wang Wenbin said during his briefing while responding to a question about the no-confidence move by the opposition. “As an all-weather strategic cooperative partner and friendly neighbour of Pakistan, it is our sincere hope that all parties in Pakistan will stay united and uphold the major interest of developments and stability,” he added.

Meanwhile, Senior Colonel Wu Qian, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense said on Thursday that the Chinese and Pakistani militaries stand ready to expand practical cooperation in various fields to a new level. The military-to-military relations, serving as the mainstay of the China-Pakistan friendship, have played an important role in the development of bilateral relations for a long time, he said at a regular press conference.

Senior Colonel Wu made the remarks while commenting on the reports that the Pakistani Air Force recently held a ceremony for receiving the Chinese J-10CE fighter jets, and that as commented by the Pakistani prime minister, the China-made aircraft would play an important role in correcting the “security imbalance” in the region.

Pakistan has added Chinese-built J-10C fighter jets to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fleet to bolster the country’s combat capabilities. The new batch of fighter jets was officially inducted in a ceremony at PAF Base Minhas Kamra. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan. At the event, Khan was quoted by Reuters as saying: “It is a big addition to our defence system. “I am thankful to China on behalf of our nation for providing these jets in a record time of eight months.” The J-10C is a medium-weight, all-weather jet that can be equipped with fourth-generation air-to-air missiles.

Wu emphasized that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, true friends and iron brothers that share weal and woe. China is willing to work with Pakistan to accelerate the construction of a closer China-Pakistan community of shared destiny in the new era. Wu added that the two militaries have achieved fruitful results in fields such as high-level visits, joint training and exercises, anti-epidemic cooperation and equipment technology, constantly enriching the connotation of bilateral strategic cooperation.

Next, under the guidance of the two heads of state, the Chinese and Pakistani militaries stand ready to expand practical cooperation in various fields to a new level and inject a new impetus into the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, Wu said.
