China, Pakistan military cooperation

An key turning point in the close ties between China and Pakistan’s militaries, especially their navies, can be witnessed in their cooperation and coordination. The Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fenghe and the Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi met during the Belt and Road Initiative International Forum in Beijing and came to this agreement. During his trip to China in late April, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa met with the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China. The Vice Chairman highlighted China’s determination to enhance and broaden its military cooperation with Pakistan.  It is worth mentioning here that the naval and air forces of both friendly countries are already engaged in not only cooperation in many fields but also bilateral exercises on each other’s territory.

The fact that China has been giving Pakistan military support for years is evidence of its growing interest in Pakistan’s naval capabilities. In recent years, this assistance has increased significantly, with China supplying Pakistan with warships, submarines, and other naval equipment. China is also helping Pakistan to build a new naval base at Gwadar, which will give China access to the Arabian Sea.

Pakistan’s naval capabilities are important for a number of reasons. First, they help to protect Pakistan’s coastline and sea lanes of communication. Second, they can be used to project power into the Indian Ocean region. Third, they can be used to cooperate with China in the Gulf of Aden and other areas.

There are a number of benefits to increased China-Pakistan military cooperation. First, it can help to deter aggression from India. Second, it can help to promote stability in the region. Third, it can help to boost the economies of both countries.

There are also some challenges to increased China-Pakistan military cooperation. First, it could lead to increased tensions with India, which may make Pakistan a target for terrorism. Second, it could lead to Pakistan becoming too dependent on China as the country needs to look towards more avenues as well. The increased cooperation between the armed forces of China and Pakistan is a positive development. It can help to promote stability in the region and boost the economies of both countries. However, it is important to be aware of the challenges that this cooperation could pose.
