CJCSC discusses security, bilateral military engagement with Oman naval commander

General Raza reiterates need for regional cooperation to ensure peace, stability in Afghanistan

Royal Navy of Oman Commander Admiral Saif Nasser Mohsen Al Rahbi called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the two officials discussed security and regional issues. It added that matters related to enhancing the level and scope of bilateral military engagements were also discussed. The military’s media wing said that cooperation in various fields between the two countries was also discussed during the meeting.

Chairman JCSC emphasized the need to further enhance the existing defense and security cooperation. General Raza said that Pakistan-Oman cooperation would have positive impact on peace and security in the region. Chairman JCSC reiterated that all regional countries needed to work collectively to ensure long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The visiting dignitary appreciated the role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in capacity building of Oman Armed Forces. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the war against terrorism.

Meanwhile a day earlier, the Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary Yerzhan Kistafin called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Army General Headquarters (GHQ).

The ISPR said the two officials discussed matters of mutual interest during the meeting. It added that regional security situation and cooperation in various fields were also discussed. The army chief expressed his hopes that the law and order situation in Kazakhstan would be restored soon.
