CM Elahi is likely to take vote of confidence tonight

Numbers for CM Punjab’s vote of confidence have been completed, Fawad Chaudhry claims

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to take the vote of confidence for Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi which is expected to be completed tonight.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has claimed that the government’s numbers for the vote of confidence in the Punjab Assembly have been completed.

Fawad Chaudhry said that at present there were 185 members in the Assembly. He said that one of their MPA Hafiz Ammar from Chakwal has left for Lahore and they were waiting for him. He also told that another MNA from Bahawalpur was also on the way and they were waiting for him too.

PTI leader said that with the arrival of both MPAs, the number of 187 MNAs will be completed shortly.

He said that the vote of confidence was not secret and the court had ordered that the vote of confidence could be taken at any time. He said that at this time their numbers were complete.

He further said that Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi had met PTI Chairman Imran Khan today and he is also reaching the Punjab Assembly in some time.

He said that if the vote of confidence is taken today they will withdraw the petition from the court tomorrow and send an advisory to dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab Assemblies tomorrow.

On the other side, the assembly’s session has been resumed after it was adjourned by Speaker earlier today for a few hours.

Opposition members in the assembly chanted slogans of cheating while government coalition members raised pamphlets saying ‘complete 186 votes.

The opposition has also requested the speaker to postpone today’s session, according to media reports.
