CM orders prompt measures to check rising sugar price, smuggling

Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi presided over a meeting at his with regard to prevention of sugar smuggling in which it was decided to undertake monitoring of sugar transportation at the exit routes of Punjab province and the proposal to enforce Inventory Management System in the sugar mills was reviewed.

It was reviewed in the meeting to formulate a mechanism regarding registration and inspection of godowns of the brokers and dealers. He ordered immediate measures with regard to increase in the prices of sugar and prevention of sugar smuggling.

Mohsin Naqvi directed that effective steps should be undertaken so as to bring stability in the prices of sugar and prevention of sugar smuggling.

Mohsin Naqvi directed that a durable strategy should be chalked out so as to check artificial hike in the prices of sugar.

He asserted that hike in the prices of sugar tantamount to negligence of the concerned departments adding that selling of sugar at soar prices is not at all tolerable to the masses. It was apprised in the meeting that a surplus stock of sugar is available in Punjab and there is no possibility of its shortage. Provincial Minister for Industries SM Tanveer, Chief Secretary, IG of Police, Secretary Industries, Secretary Excise and Taxation and Secretary Food, Cane Commissioner, DG Industries and concerned officials attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Delegations of District Bar Association Gujranwala and Okara held separate meetings with the Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi at CM Office. The office-bearers of Gujranwala and Okara Bar Associations apprised him about the problems being faced by the lawyers’ community. Caretaker CM assured them to resolve the problems of the lawyers community at the earliest adding that all possible measures will be taken for the betterment of lawyers community and their families.

He apprised that e-stamp both of Bank of Punjab will be opened in the District and Sessions Complex Gujranwala and Bank of Punjab ATM machine will also be installed. He remarked that we would also extend cooperation for the construction of lawyers chambers in Gujranwala and Okara adding that provision of best education and health facilities will be ensured for the lawyers’ community.

He revealed that a doctor will be deputed immediately at the dispensary being established for the lawyers community in Okara. Mohsin Naqvi stated that we would contact the Federal government for establishing NADRA Desk and Passport Desk in the court premises of Gujranwala.

Mohsin Naqvi remarked that the conduct of lawyers community is appreciable with regard to provision of justice to the common man adding that his doors always remain open for the lawyers community. Delegation of District Bar Association Gujranwala comprised general secretary Hafiz Wazir Ali Malik, vice president Malik Nisar Ahmad, joint secretary Sohail Noor Gujar, finance secretary Abid Majeed Sindhu, Waqas Jamil, Malik Tahseen Ullah, Rana Qasim and others. Delegation of District Bar Association Okara was headed by its president Mian Tallat Mehmood and delegation comprised Muhammad Umar Rehman, Rana Raza Mohiyudin and Ghulam Mustafa Sadiq.
