Sindh CM removes Dadu DC, DHO, AC over fire incident

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while taking action over negligence has removed the deputy commissioner (DC), district health officer (DHO), and assistant commissioner of Dadu with immediate effect here on Saturday.

The action was taken against the negligence over the fire incident that occurred in the Faiz Mohammed Chandio village of district Dadu. The CM had appointed Murtaza Shah as a new DC of Dadu. He directed the newly appointed DC to rehabilitate the burnt village after taking the charge of the office.

He expressed his disappointment over the incident and said that the affected village would be rehabilitated.

It may be recalled that a mysterious fire erupted in village Faiz Mohammed Chandio on April 17 at around 9:00pm, and within half an hour it spread to the entire village. The blaze reduced over 50 houses to ashes and killed nine children. The chief minister personally visited the village next day and announced compensation for the affected families and ordered an inquiry under Home Secretary Saeed Mangnijo.

In the light of the inquiry, the chief minister ordered the removal of Dadu DC Samiullah Shaikh and placed the services of DHO Dr. Abdul Hameed Shaikh and Assistant Commissioner Mehar Faheem Lakhair under suspension for their failure to respond to the incident in time.
