COAS, CJCSC attend funeral of Capt Fahad in Rawalpindi

The funeral prayer of Captain Muhammad Fahad Khan, who embraced martyrdom on Sunday in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast near Kahan Balochistan, was offered at Army Graveyard Rawalpindi on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and a large number of senior civil and military officers, soldiers, citizens and relatives of martyr attended the funeral prayer. The martyr was buried with full military honour.

Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi telephoned the families of the soldiers martyred in various incidents in the line of their duties.

The president spoke to the relatives of Havaldar Muhammad Amir and Sepoy Nasir Khan, who were martyred on December 14 in a suicide attack in Miranshah and on December 4 in North Waziristan, respectively.

Dr Alvi also talked to the families of Naib Subedar Qasim Khand and Havaldar Muhammad Changez Chughtai, who lost their lives on November 26 in a terrorist incident in Lakki Marwat.

He telephoned the father of Havaldar Parosh Khan, who was martyred in North Waziristan on November 30.

The president paid tribute to the martyred troops for rendering immense sacrifices for the motherland. He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant patience to the families of the martyrs.

Separately, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid paid tribute to Captain Fahad and the soldiers of the Pakistan Army who lost their lives in an IED blast during a clearance operation in Balochistan.

He said that the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army to rid the country of terrorism would never go in vain. The nation is proud of its martyrs, the CM added.

Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terrorist activities in some parts of the country.

Last month, the banned TTP called off a ceasefire brokered by the Afghan Taliban in May.
